Yep that was my 1st though also. [:)]
The first car may be carrying lumber. Klamath Falls, Oregon?
Dunsmuir?
Not K Falls or Dunsmuir
Let’s see here, its a stack train I think. Many of those trees are cedars, I’m thinking this is the former WP Feather River route, somewhere near Quincy, CA. I’ll have to check TTs for a more exact location.
I’m going to throw out two possibilities, Virgilia about MP 270 or Sping Garden MP 296?
Jimmy B
I’ll agree with Jimmy B. The only other location where you could get trees like that and double-stacks is the Blue Mtns, and that location is not Blue Mtn territory. I couldn’t begin to say where on the Feather River that picture was taken, however.
OK Jim & Eric, You guys got it. I’m not going to make you get more specific on this one as I am not sure myself (Darn CRS). It is the Feather river canyon but I can’t remember what sideing it is. I am pretty sure it’s either Blairsden or Sloat but I’m not 100%. It is in the Quincy area though. I figured between the license plate on the truck and the vegitation this would be a good one. Good job guys.
Chad – I keep telling myself that I need to get the balance of my old slides and prints digitized- – some clear back to the late '50’s and Europe in the late '60’s. Then you can put them up, Chad, and we can see where people have really been!!
Eric, That would be cool. I procrastinateing scanning for a long time myself because it’s such a big task. I had to organize all my stuff first and that took a few weeks. I have been spending a few hours every weekend. I’m finaly starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel. I’ve scanned in about 1/2 my slides and 1/4 of my prints. One thing that I like about digitizing is I can recover some rolls of film that came back from the lab with bad color. I also recovered a badly overexposed roll too. I was suprised at that one. Anyway I look forward to seeing your pics.
