Western where is it 4/20/06

An easy one and a hard one

Beaumont Hill & out there on the Sunset route [:p]

The second photo seems to show a name on the post below the crossbuck?

I can’t quite make out what it says on my screen, can you?

I…think…it …says…"This is not the BNSFkline…[:o)]

UP train appears to be eastbound approaching the grade crossing just east of Blue Cut on Cajon Pass. SP train, best I can tell, is somewhere on the Modoc. I’ll leave it to the Modoc Mafia to nail down a more specific location.

You are right so far Clemente.

The SP photo is at Fernley, making the turn onto the WP. The UP photo is on Cajon, I think, but I would guess that it is on the Cut Off - the old SP main.

Clemente nailed the first one but the second one is still open.

The second photo is on SP’s Modoc line near Sagehen on the Madalin Plain.

Jim, You’re close enough that I’ll say you got it. Good job. But it’s a bit below Sage Hen. It’s between Madelin and Termo in the Madelin plains.

That’s the road into the ballast pit just south of Madelin?

Jimmy

Close, it’s a couple crossings north of that, but you’re in the right neighborhood.

***, how do you guys know this stuff?

In alot of cases its “been there - done that” others are guess work based on terrain, background foreground, towers, yard signs, clues like that. If you been thru the same area, not necessarily the exact spot, one can often recognize places.

Well, I was on the same crew district! [banghead] Foozel

I’m happy I ‘won’ one at least. My job is done!

[(-D] You and I have the same “score”. Did you notice that none of Chad/s photos have cornfields in them? Weird![;)]
