Western where is it 5/11/06

Red clay and sagebrush. Looks like Wyoming or Utah?

Nah, it could be near Flagstaff too,

double track has to be around dale wyoming or summit outside cheyenne

Looks like the former SP and WP paired track across Nevada.

Oh dear. Right off the side of I-80 just west of a state boundary. The split grades are a dead giveaway if you know the railway in question. This is a section of left-hand running, the original line is now the downgrade line because it’s steeper; the upgrade line (in the background) begins the climb earlier and thus has a longer run to the summit and thus has a lower grade.

Which state border? OK I know what border you meant so I’ll give it to ya. Good job. It is the UP main between Echo,Ut. and Evanston,Wy. Photo by RJ Pieper (miniwyo).

Wait! I don’t want to win, just give hints!

Well with that kind of a hint you would have to be a bonehead not to get it.[;)][8D]

Wellllll … Murphy Siding was so close it was kind of funny. In fact the train is actually in BOTH Utah and Wyoming

Okay that’s enough guys, just let Chad give us another one

Did you say bonehead??[:0] I think I may have just won a prize![}:)]

OK here’s another one

Sparks ?

not Sparks

Clues: passenger equipment, rotary plows, and a caboose (or “pushing platform”) in the yard.

Edited ti note that I don’t know where it is.[:p]

East end of the Elko NV yard.

Corwinda nailed it. Good job. The train is a Feather River Rail Museum equiptment move to Cheyanne. Photy by Matt Liverani.

It helps that I used to live in Elko.
