Hey Chad, good to hear from you!

I hope you were driving “Real slow” when you took that shot.

No, I’m just getting good at aiming the camera without looking through the viewfinder.[;)]

That would require skill on that Interstate!

I’m getting lots of practice lateley, 6700 miles since starting the new job [:O]

I am going to guess that it is somewhere on the Camas Prairie.

No Eric, but a good guess.

My guess is it’s somewhere on the abandoned Milwaukee Road in Montana but I couldn’t begin to pinpoint where.

Its at the top of the grade going westbound from the Columbia River enroute to Ellensburg, Washington . The Old Milwaukee line western extension. You were traveling westbound on Inerstate 90 when you snapped the picture. That bridge at one time carried the Bipolars as it was under wire. It also carried the Olympian Hiawatha.

I couldn’t have said it better myself Al !!! Excellent job.

Just to be a little more specific for the record- this is the Renslow Viaduct just east of Kittitas, WA on the former Milwaukee Road Coast Division. The trestle is actually not the top of the grade- the crest of Boylston Hill is further east at Johnson Creek (Boylston) Tunnel. The eastbound grade began at Kittitas and ran upward to the tunnel over the viaduct at 1.66%, while the westbound grade began at Beverly Jct and was a staggering 2.2% up to the tunnel. This was a famous spot on the Milwaukee’s coast extention even before I-90 was laid underneath in the 1960s.

Thanks for the information.

I have traveled under that bridge many times and knew it as soon as I saw it but a few days late. How about more?
