Sorry about the poor quality, I took this while driveing on the highway.
This is in Livingston, Ca along Highway 99. I have taken a picture of the unit also go by on the highway.
I guess I have missed this one every time there. Of course, at that point, we are usually urgently looking for the rest area south of Turlock. It is interesting the number of industrial switchers you can see along US 99 in the central valley, though.
Exactly right, good job.
Yea, here is another one up at Keyes
OK, that was quick so we’ll do another
Is it in northern Nevada?
No, it’s not in Nevada
Hint: Mountains in background are the Sierras
Looks like SP storage cars on the MODOC, but I couldn’t tell you where, except it is South of Alturas.
It’s not on the Modoc line
Somewhere near Oroville?
I’m guessing… in the USA? [:D]
Somewhere near Oroville?
No, but keep thinking the wobely
Somewhere between Portola and the NV-CA border on the WP. It looks like the Eastern slope of the Sierras.
OK, that was quick so we’ll do another
Chad, becareful with the photo’s address, it has Hawley in it. My guess was going to be Reno Junction before I saw that.
Eric, you cheater. You are…
Just kidding it’s my fault for not paying attention.
Hawley it is. These cars are in temporary seasonal storeage at the beginning of the Loyalton branch. This line as well as the ex WP Reno branch have become long storeage lines. The Reno branch has several miles of autoracks stored on it
Chad,
I lived in Reno about 10 years ago and in the valley north of Sparks they used to load or unload autoracks. Was that for cars bound for Sacramento markets or just those for Reno only? I would think Beneicia would be close enough for Sacramento. Or did they unload Reno cars near Reno to avoid damage during truck transit going over Donner?

I don’t know but its probably just for northern Nevada. Las Vegas has there own and you’re right Benicia covers the Sac area.
