Excellent, really good!
Great article with the view focused on reality.
The best thing that could ever happen for Amtrak is for Norm Mineta to retire.
…What a shame…Is there another Mr. Gunn out there…??
Shouldn’t be any question about my view. I strongly agree that firing Gunn was a mistake.

What’s interesting is that Weyrich has conservative credentials that would make Bush look like a liberal, and yet he realizes the value of passenger rail both as a form of transportation and an economic development tool. He nails the Bush policy (or non-policy) to the wall with this op-ed piece and exposes it for what it is… a plan to kill off passenger rail.
On rereading, I think he left out Downs as the guy between Claytor and Warrington.
…although I can’t blame him it!
…I suppose no matter who is found to lead Amtrak…if the Adminstration has no place in it’s priorities for it…the operation of passenger train service overall in this country will be the same as trying to boat up stream without a paddle or worse…Simply will fail.
