WGH in Long Beach

Anyone heading for Long Beach?

I was going to go but I’m taking the family down so San Diego instead. I’ll have to catch the next one

Glad you reminded me. I’m a definite maybe!

I sure will! I’ll be there all day on Saturday the 13th. I’m taking Metro Rail there. It’s just a quick ride on the Red Line subway and the Blue Line light rail down to Downtown Long Beach for me!

I’m in, and I’m recruiting others to go along!

Have had it on my schedule for a month. Not allowing anything to interfere,Went the last time it was in So-Cal and promised myself that I would make the next one. Will drive 260 miles round trip in from the desert and it will be worth it.

I will be there on Saturday. Saving my pennies.

If you haven’t been to this show before, it’ll blow your mind.

I’ve been to all the major train shows in Southern CA the past three months, and all of the same layouts were there, nothing new for me but they’re all enjoyable to look at.

Was a little disappointed to see very few if any swap meet deals, and only one new-stock major vendor (I’m in N scale).

But I did love the presence of the major manufacturers like Kato, Athearn, BLMA, Caboose, Broadway Limited, etc. I was able to ask them questions and get all sorts of interesting info. To my delight, Athearn is proving that they are getting serious about N scale. They all had great stuff on display, unfortunately I’d have to wait several months for them be released before I can buy what I want!

I went yesterday myself. I talked to Craig Walker of Athearn about the Yellow Bonnet Santa Fe F7’s that will be coming out. There was a discussion about the black trucks. Anyways he said they have pictures of them with both silver and black trucks and they will be coming out both ways. The Western Pacific F-7P’s are on the ocean and will be arriving shortly. They are still working out the “running” bugs of the 4-8-2 steam loco. The sample looked very nice and I will most likely pick one up in the future.

I got a reasonable deal on a Genesis Santa Fe F-3AB freight set for $110 out the door. I was going to pick up the Genesis Santa Fe War Bonnet F-7AB set for the same price but when I came back a 1/2 hour later it was gone. Oh well.

I talked to Bowser about the FT units coming out. He said they are expected to be available in July. I want to picked up a Western Pacific set with the as-delivered paint scheme so I need to make sure I have funds available by then.

I went to the show on Saturday and it was well worth the time and effort. It looked like they had a big crowd and I was pleasently surprised to see quite a few kids in the crowd. I heard the Sunday crowd was pretty good too.

Great show got to see the Athearn Veranda close up awesome looking can’t wait to get one also saw the Atlas Genset switcher have one on advance order for the Pacific Harbor Line can’t wait to run it, also purchased 3 Boley fire trucks 2 LA helicopters and 4 blue box freight cars for $40 bucks, wanted to get the Walthers cooling tower, but the vender had already sold out. Atended both days and had a very enjoyable time.
