I was communicating with the Navy at one point, told them with all their new-fangled stuff, 10 years from now they’d be looking for…637 class fast-attacks.
Guess what?
I mean, to replace them with a non-crew-friendly 688 (a maze to get through…like “gee, where to we put berthing?”) over a habitability-designed boat that were ALL under-ice capable, and all had 10 years anyway on the hulls left, but no, they do the 688’s that can’t do under ice…and have to come up with the 688i to do it…

I was lead SINS Tech (back when ET’s were really ET’s), on Sperry MK3 MOD6.
Never thought I’d see a binnacle for a SINS again…until I saw inside an Ohio class a while back, and there were two of them!
Had an offer on the spot to stay on board and go on deployment to help sort out some problems…had I brought my toothbrush, might have.
Knew the CO since he was 10 years old.

yep back running my trains daily half a day yesterday. i had some more pressing issues with mobilty needs. been out of the loop back now love running my trains got the sd45 running ye haa thanks to my honey!
