What a difference a tree makes.

Joyce Kilmer wrote,
I think that I shall never see A poem lovely as a tree.
A tree whose hungry mouth is prest
Against the earth's sweet flowing breast;
A tree that looks at God all day,
And lifts her leafy arms to pray;
A tree that may in summer wear
A nest of robins in her hair;
Upon whose bosom snow has lain;
Who intimately lives with rain.
Poems are made by fools like me,
But only God can make a tree.

But I sure enjoy making models of them. Here are a couple of before and after shots. The upper level does not have trees yet and it sure shows.

The prototype inspiration would be Minneska and Reads Landing in Southern Minnesota on the Mississippi.

So true, Art. Trees and folliage really do add quite a dimension to a layout. I’ve found, too, to a lesser degree that pole lines do as well.

I really like those Noch leaves, Art. I definitely will have to look into that.

How politically correct, even poetry gets censored.

Definitely not the “Tree that Grew in Brooklyn.” They look great and do add a great deal to the scene. Worth all the effort and future up keep. You and mother nature keep up the good work!

Of course you have my enthusastic agreement on that, Art, as you well know, LOL!

This Christmas, my son was down from Vancouver, and we went out and ran trains in the garage. Tommy asked me if I thought I had enough trees. I looked at him and said, “what do you think?”

He shrugged and said, “I’ve got to get back up on Yuba Pass when I come down this summer. I keep forgetting.”

Yup, you can NEVER have enough trees!

Tom

I couldn’t agree with you more Art. Trees will change the look and feel of any scene. Trees help set the mood of the scene, be it winter, fall, or summer. Than of course there is my favorite of all trees… Pine trees!

I think that I shall never hear a poem lovely as a beer

With golden base and snowy cap, the brew the Beer Barn has on tap

The foamy stuff I drink all day, until my mem’ry melts away

Poems are made by fools, I fear, but only Schlitz can make a beer.
