What am I doing wrong?

I am still trying to post a pic on week-end photo fun, but it just doesn’t work for me. here is what I do.

(1) I go to my photo bucket, click on the pic. I want.

(2) I click onto the I M G code and copy appears a second

(3) then I go to edit click on copy

(4) then I go to this forum, and type in a text

(5) then I go to the bottom of the page and click post.

I get the text OK but the picture does not appear. What am I doing wrong? Am I missing a step or two, or am I way off base with the way I am going about it. If its not to much to ask, I would really appreciate,if someone would be so kind to give me a step by step 1 2 3 4 5 procedure. I feel I am somewhat dense, so I really need the help on this one.

Thanks to all that reply

Sam

In (5) are you clicking on “paste” or “post”? Paste puts the copied image link into your post.

Like I’ve done here:

On (5) I am click post at the bottom of the page

Sam

Sam,

Are you doing this step? (From the little film icon.)

No Jim, I am not. Is that whats missing?

Sam

  1. Do not click on Edit | copy on photobucket after you already have gotten the text “copied”.

That presumably puts something else on the clipboard, instead of the img link from photobucket.

  1. You are doing an Edit | paste to paste in the link here while writing the post, right? Before clicking on post.

If you are posting into the “Insert Media” box you do NOT want the [ i m g ] tags. The Insert Media box wants a plain URL, somethign that satrts with HTTP:// and ends with .jpg or .gif (or some other formats that are supported).

The [ i m g] method used to always work 100% until the upgraded the software the last time. I think the makers of this board software have deprecated the use of BB Code (the [ i m g ] and [u r l ] tags - among others) as it seems hit or miss.

now I’m really confused

Sam

  1. On photobucket, click on IMG link, you get the text “copied”. You now have the link on your clipboard

  2. Here, click on Edit | paste to add link to what you are writing from the clipboard.

  3. Click Post to publish your post

Stein

If you scroll down to the post I did on 6-21-11 (Testing to post a picture). It came out fine. but it just doesn’t work any more for me.

Sam

Sam, read Randy’s reply. He’s right. You do NOT want to insert an IMG, you want to insert the URL (web address from photobucket) of the image instead.

What I do and works for me every time:

When I’m ready to put in a photo I go to my Photobucket account, select the thumbnail of the photo I want, place the mouse pointer on the thumbnail, the menu with the tags appears, I put the pointer on the IMG code line, left click, copied appears momentarily, come back here to my post, right click, click paste, add any additional text, click post.

Sam,

I use the method or Insert Media box that Jim referred to above. Since you already have the pic posted on Photobucket, all you need to do is the following:

  1. Copy the pic’s URL or web address (http://www.photobucket.com…)
  2. Open up a Post Message (in the thread you want to post to)
  3. Click on the Insert Media icon in the tool bar above the text box (bottom row, 3rd icon to the right - looks like a strip of film)
  4. Paste URL into the Link to Media text box
  5. Click the Insert button

The pic should immediately post into your text box. Click the Post button to add your post into the thread.

I used to use the [img] code to post pictures here but it didn’t work for me after the upgrade last year and I’ve used the above method with success ever since.

Tom

I use the same method as Jeffrey, and have never had a problem.

Sam, as Stein points out, clicking on the IMG line automatically copies the info - there’s no need to click on EDIT to COPY again. In your summary of the steps which you followed, you don’t mention using EDIT, then PASTE. Your steps should be as follows:

(1) I go to my photo bucket, click on the pic. I want.

(2) I click onto the I M G code and copy appears a second

(3)then I go to this forum, and type in a text

(4) next, I click on EDIT, then PASTE

(5) then I go to the bottom of the page and click post.

I often get the impression that many Members here aren’t too fond of pictures, as not an awful lot are posted, but perhaps they’re simply unsure of the procedure. [swg]

Thank you all for responding so quickly. I’m going to give up for this week end. My daughter has her masters degree and works for IBM I’ll have to get her to show me how its done. I tried all of your suggestions, but nothing seems to work. I think the problem is more me than my PC. Again Thank you all for the quick reply .

All have a great week-end

Sam

If you allow me an hour, I’ll have a Youtube video explaining it uploaded.

EDIT: Here it is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l6_JwpV5SiI

I go to my photobucket account, click img code, left click to copy and paste to reply box on forum.

There’s no need to use any other steps.

Sam,

This is not the time to stop. Take advantage of the weekend and resolve your problem.

I went through the process and took notes so that I could document the step-by-step actions to make it clearer for you. Here is what I do.

Once on Photobucket, whenever I click on a photo or hover over it, I look for the Share drop down box and click on the word Share.

That produces a series of tabs one of which is Get Link Code. I click on that tab which gives me several choices, one of which is IMG for bulletin boards and forums. Under that choice, there are two possible selections, Full Size and Clickable Thumbnail. I click on the Full Size box which gives me a check mark in the box. I then highlight the entire text to the right of the check box with my mouse and then right click and select Copy. Now, I have the content of the Link Code.

Then on this forum, I click the Reply buttton and type my message. Then, I start a new line and left click on my mouse to produce the vertical line that indicates where the Link Code is to be placed. Then, I right click on my mouse and select Paste which will insert the

Well Rich,

That didn’t work, all the steps showed up the way you said, but at the end when I went to post all I got was the text no photo and said BLOCKED SCRIPT void 0

All I do is click on the IMG code, paste the IMG such that it shows with both the [ IM G ] and [ /IMG ] codes and then post it…I do not bother with the insert media at all in that case…

Hence…

It will show a line reading the photobucket acct number and all that with the [ IMG ] at the front and the [ /IMG ] at the last…just post it that way…don’t bother with insert media…
