What are the options for transition era Diesel servicing facilities ?

Hi!

I’m in the middle of drawing the scale plans for the rebuild of my 11x15 HO layout. I model the Santa Fe, with steam / diesel equipment used in the late '40s thru '50s. My existing engine service facilities have two tracks for steam (that lead into a double wide, double long engine house), and of course ther are water/coal/ash facilities as well. No problem here.

For the diesel servicing, I currently have two tracks with a weathered Bachmann Plus (?) diesel servicing kit that has concrete pads with fuel hoses, brake shoes and light fixtures. For the new layout, I thought of getting a second kit like this and putting them end on end to service full ABBA lash-ups. This should look OK, but perhaps there is something better out there that would work for this era. Any ideas???

Thank you,

In one part of an isolated branchline I have I actually use an old platform with a conveyor that is used for sand–if such is needed. For diesel fuel—there is a couple of tanker trucks, used to deliver home fuel, now being used. Sort of run the train on to a convenient team track and there we go.

Sand.

A tank for lube oil.

A water hose.

A toilet dump.
