What Are you guys doing for Thanks Giving?

Ok I plan to have the first loop laid on my layout as well as road bed and wiring. I hope to be running a train by next week. So what are you all doing?

And in addition to starting cooking on Wednesday night and finishing up the big meal on Thanksgiving morning I hope to get in a few [zzz] in the afternoon tooo…

I did hook up a temp DC MRC throttle to my staging yard to run a few trains before the holiday.

I’ve got the in-laws coming to my house this year. So, I’ll start cooking Wednesday night, and hopefully finish up by 1:00pm on Turkey Day. 17 pound bird, 12 in-laws, 6 beers, and 3 naps. That sounds about right. Chris

Turkey Day: watch the Macy’s Parade, have food, watch football, sleep, all the fun stuff [;)]

rest of the weekend - homework… or maybe start on some benchwork or something (after I get the final OK from the parents)

I’m thinking I may add Trainphone antennas to my Kato E8. Otherwise, if I’m not eating turkey or watching football, I’ll be studying for my written doctoral prelims.

Two of the kids, their spouses, and a couple of grandkids will be here most of the day. One of the grandsons and I will be running trains for a while. I will be spending the next couple days getting the layout room cleaned up.

We have both Thursday and Friday off work. We just found out that the family expects us to do T-day dinner, should be interesting since we only have room for one dining table with four chairs, and right now have a couch which seats three…and about 8 people will be eating. Might have to eat it in shifts.[dinner]

Friday I’m going to try to get the basement walls painted with water sealer, and maybe get the artificial tree up and do some survey work re a possible circle of track around the base.

I plan on building a few mine head frames for the layout. and possibly a mill too. I have a mining railroad (if you hadn’t already guessed) and hope to add some much need industries to the layout.

I plan on spending time w/the family, eating Turkey and watching the Chiefs Broncos game

HUNTIN’, HUNTIN’, SOME MORE DEER HUNTIN’, LUNCH WITH THE FAMILY, THEN EVEN MORE DEER HUNTING!

Planning on a great day!! The wife is an excellent cook & I don’t dare get in her way. The two youngest grandkids will be here & right now I’m getting ready to finish the “snow treatment” for my 4x8 - all the current buildings removed (except for the roundhouse) white 3/4" styrofoam in 6 to 8 layers with snow plows (on the tracks as well as the road with snow piles on the sides) a couple of houses, store, and station from the Hallmark Sarah Plain and Tall Collection of 1994, and 45 or so snow covered pines in various sizes! With two controlers for my MRC Prodigy Advance, they will have a ball racing the plows (1 Athern & 1 Walthers). I only wish I had a digital camera - gotta wait for Santa for that! Will try to post after Turkey Day a few photos. Happy Turkey Everyone!!!

Turkey, trains, golf, trains, 500, trains, some pictionary and then some turkey. Did I say we would play with the trains?

As usual, it’s gonna be a big bash at my sister’s place this year. Most of the neighbors are invited along with family and friends as well as the Sundown fire dept. She expects there to be easily 60 people this year, including me.

My wife and I will be having a nice quiet Thanksgiving dinner at home, as is our tradition.

I’ll also spend a few minutes thinking about all of our folks overseas who can’t be home with their families, and how much we owe every single one of them.

I loved that video. Thanks for sharing it.

This will be a quiet Thanksgiving…just the 3 of us, as my son, who is a freshman at LeTourneau University in Longview, TX, will be home for the first time since late August. I get Friday off as well, so we’ll just hang out, watch some Sci-Fi movies and generally enjoy being a family again. Not much train activity planned except that my son is travelling both ways on the Texas Eagle.
