What are your trees and shrubs made from?

I am starting to landscape and detail the layout, to do this I have been buying artificial trees (coniferous and deciduous) but find this to be extremely expensive and not always giving me a good looking tree. Some very good articles have been written in Model Railroader regarding this. And I have been experimenting with Astilbe and Sedum with good results.

So what are you using from the garden?

Yarrow

Goden rod and other weeds. Remove the leaves. Spray them with green spray paint and dust them with ground foam rubber (Woodland Scenics) while the paint is still wet.

Sumac flower works well also. If you wait til they dry out on the plant they work better, and it’s easier
