What Brand Of Track?

what type of guage 1 track should i buy?? Aristo-craft???Lionel???LGB???
or any other brands???
and why??

Doesn’t matter much, especially if you are planning to buy flex rails since there’s not many choices. In sectional track, Lionel and Bachmann should be avoided for outdoor use. LGB, USA Trains and Aristo-Craft are all good and also are compatible with each other.

See my reply to you previous post about the differences between “Euro” and “USA” style sectional track.

yes i did see the euro and USA track difference

thanks

Hi Super Chicken
Warning Biased Alert!!!
LGB
Because the rail discolours to an icky brown faster this however does not affect operations.
I have also had problems with Aristocraft points.
It should also be noted that I prefer LGB trains when it comes to track powered trains
regards John

I like LGB it has good connectors and this is where you will get trouble; not in the track itself. I solder my LGB connectors and no trouble at all even under tropical conditions. However as far as track itself is concerned i think Aristo is very good as it has in my opinion a better alloy than LGB, ie more zinc is it and less copper ? than LGB and it doesn’t oxidise as much in the tropics. Conductivity is not as good but not worth talking about. I don’t like Aristo connectors and i am going to get rid of all my Aristo stuff for this reason, very hard to solder and they do go high resistance from time to time even though the fact that they are screwed together is a big advance over LGB unsoldered.

However i am sold on LGB points (switches ) etc, even more so as i am getting into automating my layout, no other supplier has anyhting like what i am using and it’s operation is a wonder to me in itself.

So in essence the rails themselves are usually not much of a problem in solid track but other things are important.
