What Camera Lens?

You said “sticker shock”… more like “cost coma”!!!

Atr one time they behaved just like film…the noise and thermal signatures from IR-emitting electronics near the chip both degraded the image as exposure times were raised. I know this from my years as an amateur astonomer where the press will replete with articles on the new CCD imaging devices designed for telescope use under the night sky. In fact, a big component of those devices was a cooling mechanism so that exposures could extend into the many minutes and hours. I hadn’t understood that CCD’s in modern cameras would still be sensitive to this problem with a 10 second exposure.

If I have time this weekend I’ll try both but since this is model photography, it might not be the same as doing a landscape etc. Also most here including me, do not have the eye to tell the difference without zooming in to see the pixels. If it’s not being used as a poster or large pic there would be little if any difference noted IMO. As far as the orginal post, the stock lens will work just fine.
