what class of CNR Mikado

what class of CNR Mikados would the Kato N Mikado represent the best , I am wanting to model a CN prototype, can anyone out there tell me and suggest where I might look for good photos of both sides.

Try here. Scroll down to "C’ (for Canada), and open the link to the archive for Canadian National and Grand Trunk Western, etc., and scroll down the the Whyte notation or class that you desire. Should be a few pics that will help you out.

Realistically, only the 3700-series (I don’t know which class that is): the boiler shape is similar, and the class had Walschaert valve gear. All the other engines seen to have smaller boilers (closer to the USRA light; the Kato engine is a USRA heavy), and short hanger Baker valve gear. You’ll still have to add the Elesco feedwater heater system and other CN-specific details, but it’s as close as you’re going to get without compromising a LOT.
