what color cheap walmart craft paint

hi i finaly got a bucket full of ground foam i got a bottle of forest green paint mixed some with water and got some nice dark green foam what other colors should i use?

thanks hobojim

I think it depends on climate, tree types and time of year.

Here in Pa., Spring and Early Summer-trees are lighter, Mid Summer-medium green, Late Summer-darker green.

Also, Evergreens vary by type-Blue Spruce has a slight blue/grey tint, Douglas Fur are chaulky green.

I’m assuming you’re talking about covering the ground, either the Plywood Prarie or the Pink Prarie.

First, unless you really are modelling a prarie, think about adding small elevation changes to the flat surface. Pink foam is easy to gouge out, and scraps of pink foam can be used for small mounds. Add a half-inch of height here, take off a half-inch there, and your surface will look much more realistic. To smoothly transition around my scraps of pink foam, I use plaster cloth.

I coat everything with Gypsolite. It has a naturally gritty texture, so I don’t need to add foam to get a more natural, uneven look. I add cheap brown acrylic paint to the Gypsolite before I apply it, so it doesn’t come out gray. Then I paint a camouflage pattern (generally brown and green) on the Gypsolite, and finally I brush on dilute white glue (1 part glue, 3 parts water) and sprinkle on various shades of green and brown turf, generally following the camouflage pattern. I put the turf on with my fingers. The shaker bottle is much to hard to control.

If I want underbrush or shrubbery, I put ground foam on later.
