Which company makes a movie theater? I read something about one that you could make your own marquee by cutting out letters. I’m in New York right now and I don’t have access to a Walthers catalog on the road, so I’ll be awaiting your answers. Can’t wait to get back home! Thanks guys!
Hi Jack,
I believe the theater your are looking for is made by Walther’s. The marquee flashes and you can paste/stick your own custom headliner. MTH also made a theater with flashing marquee, although it did not have the ability to paste your own headliner.
We have a video of the Walthers theater posted over in the reviews section.
Dave Haehn at M-Tec makes a variety of really well done theaters. Rather than the electro luminescence marquee’s of the Walther’s theaters, they use LED’s for the chase lights on the marque and theater name. The whole effect is quite spectacular. The buildings come in several configurations, and scales. Although they are basically plastic boxes they have all the details you would want, lighted movie posters, ticket window, etc. The nice thing about them is that with the basic box you can add your own details to yours to represent a specific building or just make yours unique. In addition he will custom do the name of the theater for you if you wish.
Dave’s website is: www.mtec1.com.
Thanks all! And you too Bob. I’ll have to check that out!
My story and photos “Creating the Warner Theater” was published in O Gauge Railroading Run 193 April 2003 page 77. I used two Ameri-Towne Theaters (B-867) to make a 24’ x24’ movie theater. The Marquee allows for insertion of different movies. I think it is the “details” that make my project interesting to my guests. Hope you take a look at the article. I never got any feedback from readers about how useful the info was for them, but when people see the model it catches their attention. Good luck on your quest.
