Sorry, couldn’t resist. Maybe a TCS M1, it has a pretty hefty current capacity but is rather small.

Yep, have an M1 in mine. There is plenty of room for that decoder.
In addition to the fine TCS M-1 mentioned above, the Digitrax DZ series wired decoders fit, as do the Lenz Gold Mini, and I believe that NCE has one that will fit too. The Lenz is the most expensive, and has the most sophisticate motor controll features.
Fergie, in speaking with Tony, he recommends the Lenz Silver Mini Decoder for your new Spectrum 0-6-0 Dockside Tank Engine.
I put a Digitrax DZ123 in mine and haven’t had any problems.
