Nice assortment of trains, Jake. I was fortunate enough to get a soldering gun from my brother so I can fix some wiring mishaps regarding my trains. A good friend gave me some vintage 1970s HO cars plus catalogs and guides from that same era. In addition to a snowman cookie jar, board game and a “Mustang Parking Only” sign, I think I did really well! I hope everyone else had a happy day.
I kind of thought that I was going to get the same thing. My dad had mentioned it awhile back and I was OK with it. We have a soldering iron, but it’s not really meant for small stuff like trains so he wanted to get a good one with a variable temperature. I was really surprised to find that non-powered diesel and caboose.
I certainly am thankful to have such great parents, that engine wasn’t cheap.
(SANTA must have decided that she was tired of seeing me stretching extension cords across the train room and the layout and tired of hearing those ‘choice words’ when the cords knock something over on the layout.)
My 18-year-old daughter surprised me with a 2243C that I needed to complete a 2383 ABBA set. It’s in good shape and needed only a coupler-centering spring. I’m amazed that she knew just the right model to buy, since she has no interest in trains.
Told the wife and kids no more trains but they didn’t listen. Wife & daughters went in together and bought a bunch of RMT rolling stock when RMT had their 2 for 1 sale. Wife said it is easier to buy trains for me than to try to figure out what else I need.
A package of flawed vehicle castings from Stoney Mountain Classics (before you go looking they do only HO and HOn30). I’ve already painted them and a near future project is to place them about on the layout.
I’m expecting another package of flawed vehicle castings from Stoney Mountain Classics (in the mail), an HO Scale Scooby Doo van (in the mail) and an Accurail DT&I covered hopper (in the mail).
Other than that I got some much needed clothing, two Wal-Mart gift cards ($26 gift card for Wal-Mart and a $50 Visa Wal-Mart gift card), a box of European shortbread cookies, a jar of assorted chocolate candies (handy for when the blood sugar crashes), a bronze cane and a portable massage unit to help soothe those cramped muscles.
Now first I have to say I’m not complaining and its my own fault for trying to be greedy lol but I bought a trains set a very good price and figured I could make some money off of it well it didn’t sell so I guess you now know what I got for Christmas. Just for the record I really do like the train set but I was hoping to turn it around to get something else so like I said it my own fault and I do like the set so probably keep it and sooner or later add TMCC to the engine
With fuel prices being what they are I think Santa didn’t have enough to fuel the reindeer to get to my place so I didn’t get anything, but you guys did real good this year and I’m happy for you all! [:D]
In this hobby, I got an MTH Decapod with PS2 (30-1503-1), six Pennsy hoppers, and a N5C caboose to finish it. This picture does it no justice.
In my other money pit hobby, I bought myself Raxiom’s 2010 style tails, Raxiom’s plug-in sequential tail kit, and Mac axlebacks.[:D] I love those, but the neighbors probably don’t.[swg]
Between American Muscle and the local MTH dealer, I had a good Christmas.
I got a Lionel #97 coal loader. My girlfriend bought it for me at a train show we attended the weekend after Thanksgiving. I also got a tin train sign ( more like a painting ), a wooden train whistle and train themed Christmas Cards to send out next year.
Now all I need is some Lionel coal and a dump car or wto and I’ll be in the coal business.
I got a positive response to extending my living room layout into the next room and running it around the Christmas Tree, “Oh it’s so cute”. [See Christmas weekend photo fun].
Oh, and I guess I got half of a new kitchen range.[swg]
