What did you get for Christmas?

What did santa bring you? Lump of coal or trains?

Lets see what y’all got, even if its socks and underwear.

I must have been a good boy.

BLI Great Northern S2 & Spectrum passenger cars. This thing is sweet.

At my age I have little choice but to be well behaved, so that means being good is no longer rewarded by Santa or his staff.

I will say that after years of hinting politely and respectfully, finally I was NOT given anything train or model train related which is just fine. That means I did not get the latest “coffee table” train book – with the same old selection of railroad publicity photos and blandly inaccurate text – from the remainder tables at Barnes & Noble, nor duplicates of books I already purchased for myself, nor a trainset item which someone at some “antique” store held out to my sister or niece as an old and rare item that anyone like me would surely like to have (although in truth the Tyco Gerber babyfood reefer from a few years ago did come in handy while practicing some kitbashing methods. I just hope my sister never asks to see it on the layout … Still not sure what to do about the Lionel crossing shanty with the automated brakeman.).

I did get nice things and at no time did I have to pretend to be grateful, as I often had to do when I did get train stuff.

Dave Nelson

I am getting new ‘eyes’ in February(cataract surgery). I have a number of projects just waiting…

Jim

I’ll trade you for a thirty-pound chunk of slate with a photo of the Rio Grande narrow gauge découpage plastered on it.

The thought was there… [:(]

Otherwise, every day is like Christmas for me. UPS and USPS beat a path to my door several times a week.

Cheers, Ed

A homemade two-egg omelette breakfast made by my wife that included ham, mushrooms, red peppers, artichoke hearts, and cheese, along with a bowl of grits. It was delicious. [:P]

One better on breakfast. French toast made with Panatone bread, eggs and eggnog, plus local maple syrup. Delicious.

No trains. I still have to set the layout up, and anything else would be even more of a distraction. Instead, I remember my childhood, when I would disappear as soon as presents were opened to put them on my layout. This was back in my Lionel days.

For Christmas Sant brought me that 2017 Happy Hanukkah boxcar I wanted. And a very nice dinne.

I got this…

…and what you’re not seeing is not due to photobucket being down (it is down) but due to the fact that I didn’t want any train stuff for Christmas. If I need something train-related, I’d rather get it myself.

Wayne

I didn’t get any train stuff, and not expected, as Dr. Wayne puts it, and the kids and wife know that.

I DID get something cool, they are “wobble” socket extensions, they allow some movement between the socket wrench and the socket itself, and allow you to get into tight areas.

https://www.google.com/url?sa=i&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.amazon.com%2FSnap-Drive-Wobble-Socket-Extension%2Fdp%2FB07R751PTV&psig=AOvVaw11azy7vpR1Zd9zAlFjFeg2&ust=1577416115748000&source=images&cd=vfe&ved=0CAIQjRxqFwoTCJjn0Yur0uYCFQAAAAAdAAAAABAG

Take a look at the male end, that the socket fits on, and it’s shape. It’s made to wobble.

They are priceless to a guy that likes to work on, and fix old garden tractors.

Mike.

Our main Christmas present was our son Cole and his wife Kaitlin! They are here for two days. On Christmas eve we just sat and talked into the wee hours. On Christmas day they gave us Gordon Lightfoot tickets!

I also got a True Line Trains Canadian Pacific slab side covered hopper! For whatever reason, they are one of my favourite cars. This one is slightly weathered and came in an Athearn box so it obviously wasn’t new. In case you’re wondering, I found it for myself on eBay but Dianne insisted on wrapping it for Christmas. Still made me very happy!

For Christmas breakfast we had french toast made with banana bread, and bacon. The french toast was very rich and very tasty.

Dave

Mike is that the brass hybrid?

I got two box cars from my Bro.

I like the Great Northern Michael. I have one of those but I’m not as fortunate to have that beautiful Passenger car set. They look really good together.

TF

Two Brawa Eheim trollybus sets off ebay

Several Walthers and Atlas structure kits

Some CalScale detail parts

All of which I ordered myself or provided very specific ordering instructions for…

Sheldon

One of my train friends left me a package with the Walthers barn inside. It’s an easy strcture to build and looks perfect on the layout. What a true surprise! I was so touched that I sent him a gift card after a thank-you email.

Happy Holidays!

Got me a Genesis Powered by our people locomotive and two Tangent CSX hoppers.

From my brother and sister-in-law, I got the Mister Rogers issue of Life magazine (which I already had a copy of), school pics of my nephew, and a $100 Visa gift card. My parents didn’t get presents this year, instead getting us money ($350 in my case). Planning on hitting The Train Station (Columbus, OH) tomorrow as well as some other things that have been on my wish list for a while.

Kevin

I just got the lump of coal…

The good news is that it was anthracite! [tup] [(-D]

Jim

Yes that is the BLI Brass Hybrid.

I got nothing and really preferred it that way. I don’t like people spending money on me. I’ve worked hard to make a good living. I’d rather see someone spend their money on someone less fortunate.

My four year old son got lots of neat train stuff though.

Ed

I got a CMX track cleaning car and a couple of hundred bucks worth of PWRS gift certificates. I also got a case of select very fine wines, the kind you don’t share.[(-D] For some reason, a ton of fine chocolate from various people that either has or will be given away. I ate about a pound of the stuff Christmas day but I have no wish of any more as a pound I won’t notice, any more and it shows up on the scale. Lots of athletic wear as well.

My sister gave us a vacation saying we do so much for everyone else it is the least she could do. May go to Vegas for a few days.

The best thing I got was having the kids home. They still crawled into our bed Christmas Eve and I read them The Night Before Christmas as I always have done.[C):-)]
