Can anyone out there explain what the various railroad signs mean. One I’ve been wondering about in particular is the triangle with the black dot in the center of it. Also, is there possibly a web site that explains what these signs mean ?.
I’m not real familiar with RRs sign practices either, but I do know that different roads use different signs. What turns up on one road might be symbolized by something else on another. Maybe if you know and post what RR your particular sign is found on it will help. Sorry I don’t have more to offer! Dan
It sounds like it might be a whistle post, but more information is needed. If you weren’t way down in Texas, I would suggest that it might be a flanger sign. Ask this question over on the Trains Magazine forum, and tell where you saw it and what railroad it’s on.
Thanks for the link lupo. I’m going to sit down and go through it page by page as soon as I get time.
As for the rest of you. Thanks as well for your input. The signs in question aren’t in the real world, but came in a train set a friend of mine bought a while back. He didn’t want the signs, so I gladly took them off his hands. The only problem is that I don’t know what about half of them mean… Sorry I didn’t mention this earlier.
