what dose it mean to be dcc ready

i cant figure it out dose it mean it is easy to install

i mean is it easy to install?

On many older locos, they used the frame as past of the electrical path. This required a lot of work to get DCC to work. Newer ones have the motor isolated, so all you have to do is solder some wires together. Some will also have a DCC plug so all you have to do is plug in the decoder. In short, it does mean that they are easier to install.

I think almost all loco’s made nowdays are DCC ready. Even though some are the plug and play type loco’s that doesn’t always mean they are. A number of Proto loco’s need the number board lights either removed or relocated for them to operate. Others need resistors soldered into the lights or the lights swapped out for higher voltage lights. The only true plug and play loco’s I’ve ever come across are Proto GP9’s and GP7’s and Kato’s AC4400CW’s. I’m sure there are others.

DEEP POCKETS and the wisdom to ASK BEFORE YOU BUY. This means YOU are DCC ready. As far as everything else the GURU of DCC must answer.
