Those eleven russian barter engines, TEM7A’s? They sat in Houston,Texas for a number of years bedeviled by first Customs problems, and then US compliance issues with FRA regs. Did they ever go anywhere or are they still around?Trains had last reported on them in the June 1997 issue that they had been released by the US government and I was curious if any of the Houston railfans had seen them around, if they had gotten any use?..
Also, any news of Steam engine #290 of the Atlanta and West Point? Is it still operational?

Thanks for the responses, as was stated. Diesels need to be run periodically to keep up inner lubrication and just sitting around and rotting was probably not the best for them…They were apparently acquired by American Grain Co. During the era when trade with russia was paid in baerter goods…There was a story that Pepsi Cola got some russian submarines for their product. then scrapped them for that value. About that same time…
Anyone know the status of A&WP #290?.It was used around Atlanta to pull a dinner train at one time…Then went out of service
