What fits on a P2K FB2 chassis?

I have a P2K FB2 chassis that I would like to use as some sort of A unit. Does anyone know what will fit on that chassis – I’m assuming the FA shell would fit, but is there anything else? Also, does the Walthers trainline shell fit on the P2K chassis? I’m open to ideas here – I really don’t have much use for a B unit.

I seriously doubt that anything besides another Proto FA/FB will fit on that chassis, maybe you could do a “body swap” with someone who has an “A” unit shell and wants a “B” unit shell instead?

The Walthers engine is the old Train-Miniature engine and although you “might” be able to get it to work I would say it is doubtful at best.

You may get an Athearn F7 shell to fit on it.

Because of the dramiticly different nose shape/profile between an ALCO FA and an EMD F unit, such a swap would require a lot of work to the frame, if it could be done at all. Not to mention the truck spacing and fuel tank areas of the loco being completely different.

I would watch Ebay, sometimes shells for these come up for sale. Or Walthers may have some left over from the parts stock they got when they bought Life Like. Back in the day, Life Like always had a good stock of those parts.

If you’re looking for an exact fit it would require a bit of work but a close fit is doable. I managed it without much trouble.

Stewart F units shells will fit a PK 1, so they might fit a PK 2.
