What happened to MR, Trains, and other forums access?

Am I having a total brain-glitch, or wasn’t it possible to go to the MR, Trains, and other forums before the Big Change? Is it still possible?

Les the Confused

I’m able to access all the other forums, no problems, there just as glitched up as this forum [;)]

Must be either something on your PCs end or a temporary forum program problem. I’d bet the latter.

Yes it is still possibale, just click on to the RAG mag you want, I dont know why they are gray’ed out.

This is what I was taught in a web design class: “when you have a link, you change the font color (if possible) and UNDERLINE (hint hint forum admins[banghead]) that link”.

Anyway, to get to the other forums there is a string of little itty bitty letters that are under the title bar (the one that says “Our Magazine”, “Subscriber Extras”, etc). Once you find those little itty bitty letters, you click on where you want to go. Here is what is says for this topic: “Trains.com Forums > Garden Railways Forums > General Discussion (Garden Railways) >What Happened to MR, Trains, and other forums access?” So to see all of the forums, you click on the “Trains.com Forums” one.

I posted, only to find out this site had apparently dropped offline when I hit the ‘post’ icon.

I doubt they have online monitoring, but it wasn’t a nice post. I was beginning to doubt my mental acuity.

I will not put up with having to ‘hunt’ for the old familiar stuff. That’s up to the management to make the transition as seamless as possible. I give this managment a big “F”.

I cannot judge Bernie’s work, I’m not qualified. But I can judge Mark’s, and I am not going to re-up my subscription to GR. I’ve got two published novels and innumerable tech articles under my belt. I can judge Mark’s oversight with fair accuracy. Someone was asleep at the switch on this transition, and I’ll bet a dollar to a dog tur–er, biscuit, it was outsourced to India or somesuch place.

I am not going to be hassled in my entertainment, which is this board and the other. I am not going to be forced to hunt out technical problems to be settled.

One of the most valuable lessons my father taught me was: “I need you like you need me.”

Les

India, “Hello this is Tommy, Thank you for calling GRM may I help you?

Les, "Oh no hunny GRM went to India! And the guys name is Tommy!!!"

Les, I am sorry you are not happy with the new forum software. Unfortunately, software updates and changes, so we all have to go with the flow and learn it. As is typical for upgrades, there are some glitches that must be addressed. As for outsourcing to India, that is certainly not true for any aspect of Kalmbach. If you call the Customer Service department, you’ll get a live person in our building. If you call editorial, you’ll reach myself or Marc (if you call Denver). While the software may not be written here, the people who implemented and tested it are also in this building.
