OOPS! IT’S BACK[:I]
It was on page 3 for a while.
I did not read it, but was kinda wondering why in the hell being diabetic would have anything to do with this hobby…
Well Brian it started out as a poster talking about how the diabetes affects eye sight, numbness in hands and feet and how this makes the hobby a little more of a challenge to enjoy and on the other hand how the hobby is a theropedic thing. Then we soon found out how wide spread the illness in modelrailroaders which lead to talk of maybe talking a train manufacture into puting out a diebetic awareness box car that can be run at train shows to educate people about diabetes as it is a growing problem in the general public. Also they were trying to find a use from some of trash generated for the medical supplies needed to test and treat diabetes.
Anyway you would have to read from start to finnish to see the connection.
I hope you never get diabetes yourself but it can happen to anyone old young fat or skinny allthough poor diet and being heavy increases the risk.
Cool… thanks for the info.
I can relate to the eye sight issue… once you hit 40, it seems to fade a bit.
Like I said earlier, those rail joiners used to take no time at all to connect… now they are all but impossible to use…
At least I am still able to enjoy the hobby I had as a kid!
Brian
Brian,I am 59 and still have good eye sight…I only need glasses to drive…I can work on my HO or N Scale with my glasses off…With that said the rest of my body is totaled…Diabetes, bad heart, bad back, shaky hands from a old back injury and bad lungs from sucking in cigarette smoke and propane fumes from operating a forklift.
