I’m on vacation this week and rode the Arkansas & Missouri tourist train. After that, I drove over to Tractive Effort Hobbies and found that it was no longer there. Did it move or go out of business? If it moved, where are they now?
There was mention of them contemplating going out of business in a thread in the Atlas forums in August, 2008.
If you are still there, you might check the phone book to see if they moved.
I am friends with the owner’s daughter and she told me that they were closing at the end of 2008. I believe they are still selling some of their stuff at regional train shows but the actual store is closed. There is another LHS in Fayetteville called 18th street trains. It is located near Baum Stadium (Razorback Baseball).
I am good friends of Steve and Anita that owned Tractive Effort. Their last day was December 24th. They closed it because of rising cost and Anita’smother is very sick and she had to quit to take care of her. They are selling off their stock at train shows. Contact me through private message and I will give you an e-mail address to contact them. They will sell to you, you just have to tell them what you are looking for. They were one of the best all trains stores around.
