What have you purchased latel MR wise.

First this isnt a bregging post this is to see what others are purchasing in this great hobby. Maybe someone bought something someone else was looking to purchase. And then now that person can ask the one who bought it questions.

Well last night I had to take a trip to Walthers for some grab irons. I decided to puchase 18" straight 18" Drop and the 22" drop that Walthers had on sale. I also picked up some GE style ditch lights for various locomotives I have. Then I looked at their half price shelves and found an MP15DC by ConCor for 34.00 then an EJE Gondola, a Roundhouse 60’ Tank car undecorated, some high tensions powerline towers by Concor which look great…I did get a part that wasnt in my 16000gal tank car by them so now its off to primer and the paint shop as soon as I get the Spray booth hooked up to an outside vent.

What have you gotten lately?

Nothing special other then some locomotive detailing parts.Getting ready to place a on line order though for some structures.

HI, as I had all my models etc stollen during a relocation I started from scratch so I have been collecting back issues of MR, new subscription oh and a purpose built model railroad building. I’m still in the planning/ decision stage at the moment.

I hit a local swap meet a couple weeks ago and bought some barely used Tortoises for $9.50/ea and three of the P2K PS-2 covered hopper Timesaver kits for $7/ea. Then I hit the LTS and found an out-of-print book I’d been looking for, DC Jesse Burkhardt’s “Backwoods Railroads” on all the branchlines between the Cascades and the Oregon Coast.

A $6 mistinted gallon of “beigish” paint at my local Ace Hardware, in order to paint my layout benchtop. Sure looks a lot better than the Owens-Corning flamingo pink.

I also purchased, assembled, and painted a JL Innovative Design Pre-1940s Filling station set for my Dill’s Market. It sure adds to the realism of the layout.

A couple of older (?)Walthers Trainline loco’s, a GP15-1 and a Dash 8-40b (which could be a B39-8). Also a couple of Athearn BB’s, a Dash 9 and a GP38-2. Assorted Kadee couplers and I put Toby, Emily and Spencer on order…for the kids. And ordered an Aero Train…for me (birthday present, if it comes out anywhere close to on time).

It must be a mixed blessing to live close to Walthers, close enough to drop by there. I would be either broke and/or divorced

My latest purchase happens to be a P2K dcc/sound Southern GP-30, but that’s about to change I believe as I’m hoping to attend the train show in Atlanta tomorrow. May God have mercy on me and my wallet.

well lets see…picked up an athearn rtr sd50.to bad it didn’t come with a plow and other detail parts.just got 3 nce decoder’s and will be installing them in a few minutes.also got a built up station by walthers and it is very well done and it was on sale.got several background blds that were also on sale.got a lot to do around here.terry…

I recently purchased some stripwood and some Ozark Miniatures detail parts from Ridge Road Station.

Walthers Empire Builder car set. I have the first three ( so nine cars so far). They are pretty much like the straight Walthers passenger cars. The true test of their stuff will be when the dome coaches and full dome come out. I was surprised they didn’t do a straight baggage car for the set. There is at least one on every picture of the train I’ve ever seen.

I don’t know I was getting used to the pink.

Correction- eight cars so far I did not get the baggage-mail in the BN scheme. As near as I can tell mail was long gone from the rails before BN existed.

a gp35 with dcc. goin to the lhs tomorrow to get sumthing else, not know what yet

A blessing it is not, dont get me wrong it is great but a blessing lol. For the going broke theory it really relies on my father we got a great father son thing going I stay home take care of my mom (handicapped) I get paid that way but recently he just lets me get whatever as long as its not to high. I do have a small decal biz that helps with the train addiction but not enough to value me going broke cause I am always broke. My next adventure if I get to go is Walthers tomorrow for a buyilding I forgot to pick up Thursday. If that doesnt happen my next to get is at Trainfest.

Also sounds like everyone is getting things and going full throttle in the hobby.

Most recently, I went to a train show and got 3 engines.[:D]

The first one is a P2K Wabash E7A, mint in box. It wasn’t new, so it came with horn-hook couplers and the flywheels weren’t qiute balanced. I fixed both of those problems pretty quickly, so now it runs quietly and couples to cars with knuckle couplers.[:D] I know it’s probably not realistic, but I put on the freight pilot and larger fuel tank.[:D] Some of the features that I really like are the opening doors, rotating MARS light, and separate axle bearing boxes on the sideframes.[:D]

Next is a fairly new Bachmann SF FTA. It uses the drive from the Plus F7 (minus the flywheels), and runs very smoothly and quietly. The paint is pretty nice, but the black and yellow stripes are a little fuzzy.

Last is an old Tyco UP Silver Streak C-430, which was only $5. It’s chrome plated, so it’s very shiny. It runs pretty poorly, but at least it does run. It was in pretty good condition when I got it, and it’s shiny, so I’m happy.[:D]

The next thing I’m hoping to get is a Rail Power SD90MAC-H Phase I before A-Line runs out of them. If I do get it, I’ll be sure to post pictures when it’s done.[:D]

Nothing !!!

I’m Sooooooooooooo Depressed[:(]

Finally getting going after a long summer w/o trains. Starting in on my yard. Just picked up some flex track today along with a second caboose.
Last night I bought a bunch of turnouts online. This weekend I need to pick up wood for the benchwork.
Rock and Roll.

This little guy!

This is my first time buying a fully-equipped engine - sound and DCC right out of the box. I usually scour the bargains and then add my own LEDs and decoders, but for this one I went first class. It’s a Walthers P2K Heritage Series 0-6-0. It’s been hard to run my “quiet” engines ever since.

A P2K E6 in KCS passenger colors, an Atlas tank car and a Model Power work crane, which looks like a toy but with some work it’ll blend right in.

I bought a NS dash 9 Athearn RTR, and will be here monday  other then that i bought switch track in september.

As luck would have it, just as I got to the point where tracklaying (and yard throat building) was about to start on what will be down freight staging, Walthers’ catalog came in - with several items I can use on sale. I am now several shekels poorer, and eight switch machines and four Kadee under-track electromagnetic uncoupling ramps richer.

Now all I have to do is fabricate those yard throat turnouts - from raw rail.
