What is a good way to remove rub on lettering

As the title states. I have some locos with rub on lettering that i want to remove but not ruin the paintnjob on. I have typically used a knife to scrape them off but that damages the paint andi don’t want to ruin this paint. Thanks Mike

I use a little non-acetone fingernail polish remover. Gotta scrub a little but it works.

Try some tape. Rub a piece of sticky tape over the lettering and see if the tape can pull it off. I’ve used this method before, and it can work unless the lettering is really secure.

Thanks i will have to try these hopefully this weekend Mi,e

If the lettering hasn’t been over-sprayed with a clear finish, simply apply masking tape (the real stuff, not the wimpy blue or green junk) over it, then peel off. Any stubborn bits left can be removed by scrubbing it with the sticky side of a wad of masking tape.

A soft eraser & some MR. Clean for the real stubborn stuff

Sucess! Got all off with masking tape except for one engine. Muxt have cleared that one. Oh well guess i will break out the air eraser.
