What is a "hex drive" on the new Athearns?

I’ve seen this referred to on different occasions, but I still don’t know what it means. I have many BB Athearns, but no new RTR ones. Pictures might help. Thanks for educating me! [:)]

The inside of the flywheels have a six sided shape, which fits a corresponding end on the drive shafts, thereby eliminating Athearn’s old, sloppy u-joint. Much improved!

The drive shafts are also one-piece rather than the old design with two CV joints and a short connecting piece (which caused a lot of the old BB growl) - they’re a lot quieter and run almost as well as Protos.

Thanks! I understand now. Nothing liking asking questions to find out answers! [;)]
