Really ?..Who told you that? It might be true, but it is the first time I have ever heard it. I rode it in 1976, and I know others who rode it in the 1990s. The main problem lately has been that the railroad had basically fallen apart with lots of landslides, floods, etc. So any possible running is very spotty due to the interrupted nature of the line. Some of the last running, however, has been tourist runs over the Devil’s Nose switchbacks and in that region. Also lately, there has been a national push to rehabilitate the line, but the challenge seems to be exceeding the cheerleading for the effort. I do know that their government is shifting, so I would not be too shocked if social disorder is on the rise.
