Howdy all. My nephewy called me today and said he made a wrong turn in Okla. City and ended up on a curvy road that lead to a BNSF Station. He said the sign in front read ‘‘FLYNN YARD’’. I was wondering what that was, any one know? Thanks. Mike
Could it be the name of the yard? I looked it up on Google and it kept to refering to the Oklahoma Flynn Yard.
It is the main BNSF yard in Oklahoma City. Built during the ATSF days. It was unusual because it used an English style retarder in the yard. Don’t know if they are still in use. The yard replaced Nowers yard several years ago as the main yard.
Since I model that area set in 1989, I have made many pilgrimages to Flynn, don’t recall a depot, but there is a large yard tower with a sign saying Flynn Yard. Maybe that is what he was referring to.

Thanks all. That sounds like what he was talking about. Next time I am in OKC, I will try to get down there and take some pics. Thanks again. Mike
