Question #2: Why is it called a “catfish?”
http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=362645
Can’t you see the “whiskers” of a catfish?
This is a new one for me. Geeps, Cadillacs, Pooches, U-Boats, Love Bugs, Toasters, and now Catfish. What are some other nicknames I’ve forgotten or didn’t know about?
Covered wagon for any F unit comes to mind.
Nicknamed by people that obliviously never saw PRR electrics and diesels.
Don’t forget B-Boats
Chuggers (old locos that chug)
also CP’s red barns SD40-2F’s
Zug, that was my thought when I read your comment earlier this morning. When I saw the picture of the NS locomotive, I immediately thought of the “whiskers” the PRR locomotives had. (You did mean “obviously,” didn’t you? Though, they may have seen whiskered PRR locomotives and were oblivious to the similarity[:)].)
I call most of CSX’s widecab GEs ‘ButtBoats’. :B
Dam speelchecker. I’ll blaim that.
…because they come from a part of the country where catfish is most often on the menu under “seafood”.
Oh yea those are cool
