What is Bev-Bel?

I have seen some of their products advertised in sales, and they seem relatively inexpensive. I did a forum search here, and it seems they buy other brands of models and paint them. Is that it? If I buy a Bev-Bel freight car, am I getting an Athearn kit just painted by Bev-Bel? Are they still in business?
As usual, thanks for all the help. I always get the answers here!!

Bev-Bel custom decorates Athearn and MDC kits for roadnames that those companies never produced, such as my fleet of U.S. Army 40’ boxcars. They used to be sold almost exclusively by Model Railway Post Office (MRPO) in Hewitt, New Jersey, which advertises only in Railroad Model Craftsman; however, I have not seen any Bev-Bel products offered for nearly a year now.

Some Bev-Bel freight cars are listed on the Standard Hobby Supply liquidation page for $4 to $6 each. I haven’t heard of them or seen any of their products. Thanks for the info.

The current information for Bev-Bel corp is:

39 Union Ave.
Cresskil, NJ 07626
Phone (201) 567-2161

They have an ad in the September 2004 Railroad Model Craftsman magazine.

Apparently they now paint and decorate Proto 2000 tank cars!

Based on dgoodlander’s information, I checked the October 2004 issue of RMC and saw that Bev-Bel is also now decorating N-scale Atlas engines, so they are definitely still in business. The big question now is, who are their dealers?

I wonder with Horizon’s current practices will Bev Bel still be able to purchase Athearn and MDC kits to decorate? Pehaps thats why the N scale engines?

Ive bought some of their products in the past. Found them at hobby shop and train shows.

My hobby shop actually has a wide selection of Bel Bev items. I’ve gotten a few from them.

Didn’t Bev-Bel used to make a GP30?
