What is HOm?

What is HOm? [?] Is it equivalent to HOn3 or another standard of narrow gauge? Will N scale equipment operate on it?

HOm is the HO scale equivalent of meter gauge (1 meter wide or 39-3/8 inches). The European equivalent of our 3 foot gauge, but in a measurement system that they use. N scale track works out the more like 30 inch gauge in HO scale.

TomDeihl, I follow most of that. So, the track would be just a bit too wide for N scale. I understand that this may be the same width as TT scale track. Is that correct?

HOm uses 12mm gauge track, the same as TT. Brands to look for include Bemo (the big name), D+R Modellbahn and STL Models. The last named have apparently gone out of production but turn up on ebay from time to time, they’re well worth a look as the models are excellent (they even have working diaphragms between coaches - made of rubber and with small magnets to keep them hooked to the next coach). If only Hornby, Walthers, etc would adopt a similar system in HO and OO…

Thanks Matt. I figured someone in a metric using country could go into more detail on this.

HOm is where someone who can’t spell goes to at night (home) seriously it is ho metre guage, ho on tt track

Just to round it off, HOe (etroit or narrow) is HO scale running on N gauge track – avout 30" gauge.
