What is on your N Scale Workbench?

Here is what I am working on at the moment. Getting a few GHQ and Showcase models done. Mainly working on the construction equipment for the lumber yard. The tank trailer is a kitbash I have yet to finish.

Log loader just needs glass and forklift is done. Log Crane is not in the picture.

Thanks , Mike

On my work bench I have an Kato Container Handler (yellow)

When I bought this I thought it was assembled to put on the layout. Unfortunately it’s a kit (just add safety railings 4 other things on.)

The things on an N scale workbench. Probably N scale models of N scale models[:D][(-D][swg]. It is amazing how detailed something that small can be[swg]. Amazing job[bow][;)]

2 Showcase Minatures quad cab IHs 4 of Jim Wills vehicles,12 Con Cor autoracks,1 BQ23-7,1 CQ30-7,1 Dash 8 40-CW,the town of Bel-Aire on my home layout (re doing the whole darn town building by building).

Also doing a new yard module for my N scale show layout along with a few revisions on the layout its self.

Thanks Kyle , They take a while but the GHQ kits almost fall together !!!

You are a busy man Catt.

On my workbench I currently have the Walthers Mi-Jack container crane kitt for my container yard, an Ex SP Bachmann 40 foot hi-cube box carwaiting to be restensiled for my railroad and the Bachman full dome waiting to enter the paint shop. It is scheduled to be rapainted into my railroads executive train paint scheme (sky blue with a royal blue roof, red lettering and a yellow side stripe).

Mike:

I am amazed by the accuracy that you have achieved with your vehicles. I hope I can do as well in HO which is, as everybody knows, is twice the size.

As far as what is on my workbench in N scale - does it count if what I am working on will run on N scale track?

I am building a second HOn30 critter similar to the one in my avatar. I started with an N scale Bachmann 4-4-0. All that’s left of the engine is the drive wheels and gears. The tender, which houses the motor, has been converted to a gon with a load of ties. The body is brass sheet. It will have working lights. It will also be all wheel pick-up, which is in fact twelve wheel pickup because the tender/gondola retains its four wheel trucks.

Dave

Sounds cool Dave , any pics?

Mike

Mike:

Here is the new critter. The locomotive body is made from various thicknesses of brass sheet. The two round pipe thingies are air tanks that will be mounted somewhere - maybe on the roof. The coupler is a Kadee #711. Tiny but supposedly it works. The fake engine is from a Life Like generator. I have louvered doors to install but they will be open so you can see the details of the engine. You can see the drive coupling in the front of the gondola. There is a drive shaft that connects the motor in the gondola to the gears in the engine. I will be using Graham Farish N scale gondolas as coal cars with a few modifications.

Thanks for your interest.

Dave

well since I’ a very utilitarian kinda guy my layout is in it’s beginning stage and serving as a workbench.

I was testing my trackwork on DC(will do DCC testing eventually) I figure I will add feeders to my yard tracks, was noticing a bit of power loss as RS1 #51 traversed the #6 turnouts.

Gary:

Its a start!

My only track for now is on my workbench. If I clean all the junk up I can get 12 ft of straight track to test locos on.

I can see that we share the perils of working with track on the workbench - better make sure all the tools are off the track before you turn the power on![li][swg][(-D]

Dave

Nice Dave, Mike

Nice work there Gary and good to see you here.

I just finished Barb’s Bungalow. I had to build this house as it was the same house as my great-grandparents lived in for many years. I remember many trips to visit them in this house.

Barb's Bungalow

Now I am working on the DPM Bruce’s Bakery.

Bruce's Bakery

Coming along great Richard , I relly like the barbs bungalow.

Thanks Dave and Mike, yes I learned my lesson on my old 2 x 4 left a screw driver on the rails. had the darndest time finding out what was wrong… So I killed the power and ran my hand along the track bumping the screwdriver out of the road… [:^)] oops…

Here is the mate to the #600. This is #650 and I was a little more comfortable with this one and I like the heavy weathered use look.

Awesome stuff Mike!

Well, can tell ya’ll what’s not on my workbench and what’s being shipped off to someone elses workbench for DCC.

My IM F units are now DCC equipped, and my Alco’s will be headed south to get DCC in California.
