Can anyone tell me, what the surfliner is? I heard something about it, is it an Amtrak train? Are there some slides Thank you.
The “Surfliner” is Amtrak’s service between Los Angeles and San Diego, California. They are conventional Amtrak trains made up of F40PH’s, probably replaced by P42’s by now, pulling Amfleet cars. They do run push-pull, with a control cab in the end Amfleet car. Check Amtrak’s website for schedules.
Actually, Amtrak’s Surfliner has been upgraded. Now called the Pacific Surfliner. they run between San Diego & Goleta (1 train daily to/from San Luis Obispo). Most of the time, the train is made-up of Surfliner cars (bi-level California Cars) and F59PHI locomotives.
