It’s a GE BQ23-7 diesel. Very few real ones were built, and only one or two railroads owned them.

I saw the real thing a couple of times in a CSX yard in Michigan. It was a little more pleasing to my eye than the model, but that is not saying much.

according to my memory of my deisel spotters guide it was only built for scl and then passed on to it’s predecessors. It was built as caboose were leaving the rails. the larger cab is to accomadate a 5 man crew.
