What is your age and locomotive preference

42

Prefer 1st and 2nd Generation EMD Diesels and Steam

Age 46, health not so good, I like F7’s, F9’s, GP9, GP35-2, GP40, SD40-2, SD9, PA1, PA2

Age 31

I like a variety - depends on what mood I’m in at the time. Big “modern” steam is always enjoyable, though [:D]

I’m 16. Diesels rule in my world.

Any of them that I can get my hand on the throttle of.

But if you are trying to get a serious statistcal sampling, I have to say 50 and steam. Unfortunately I was too young to see them (except the D&RGW NG) in real service.

I am 17, and I prefer TURBINES and STEAMERS! [:D][:D][:D]

THanks for making me feel old! Being lumped into a group spanning 20 years upto 60 sure makes you think!

  1. Diesel.

68, first and second generation diesels i.e.: FT, E7, F3, gp7, rs1, from '47 up to circa '50

17, diesel. I don’t mind a chuff every now and then, though.

  1. I like modern diesels.

13 and if it runs on rails i like it

Age:53, PRR Late Steam, 1st & 2nd generation diesel, and PRR mainline Electric.

I’m 30 and steam is by far my favorite, although I like all trains, including diesels.

15 soon to be 16 I like late 1st, 2nd, and early 3rd Generation Diesel. I do like steam, but not as much as diesels

I’m 30 and like Alco diesels.

61+, and whatever is appropriate for the specific timetable movement.

Steam, from tiny teapot tankers to articulateds.
Diesel-hydraulics, both switchers and line-haul units.
Catenary motors, from ancient Bo+Bo box cabs to 2-Co+Co-2 streamlined double-enders.

Also DMU and EMU passenger consists without locomotives.

If it moves and had (or could have had) a prototype in Central Japan in 1964, it’s good.
