What is your favorite RR?
Ahh lets see
BN
Well, it hasn’t changed since last week when this topic came up…
NEW HAVEN…
Why is it not on your list?
We’ve had the poll before, but probably not since you joined the forum. Unfortunately, though my favorites are on your list, the list doesn’t allow for multiple choice.
Therefore, my favorite RAILROADS, on my Yuba River Sub are;
DENVER AND RIO GRAND WESTERN
SOUTHERN PACIFIC
and both during the hectic power-short, traffic-heavy days of WWII steam.
Other through trains that appear on my Yuba River Sub are:
Great Northern
Santa Fe
Other locos that appear (borrowed for the War Effort) are:
Colorado & Southern
Chesapeake & Ohio
Pennsylvania
Missouri Pacific
Norfolk and Western
Frisco
Western Pacific
I NEVER know what’ s coming through the next tunnel and across the next bridge, LOL!
Tom
[:P][:P]
I would have to say Chicago And NorthWestern RR
Carl…
How could you not have listed the CNW?
I voted other because you didn’t have my favorites on there.
I do have a certain affinity for WP and RI and there is little in this country as glorious and breathtaking as D&RGW coming up through the Big Ten Curves westbound out of Denver. But living here in the far, far reaches of the wild, wild west I am naturally drawn to … Coal Haulers (C&O, B&O, N&W. CC&O [that’s the Clinchfield for you uninitiated - it stood for Carolina, Clinchfield, and Ohio]and L&N). I also like C&NW, SL-SF, and the good old Gulf, Mobile, and Ohio.
CNW, M.St.L.,CGW,L.&M.
WP for scenery.
PRR for equipment.
Why such a heavy western bent? There are only 2 roads from east of the Mississippi. My favorite class 1s are Reading Company, Central Railroad of New Jersey, and Pennsylvania-Reading Seashore Lines.
I have many favorites among the short and narrow roads. Too many to list, and all my narrow gauge favorites are eastern. Like the Tuscarora Valley, the Newport and Sherman’s Valley, the Diamond Valley, the Ohio River and Western, the Cairo and Kanawha, and all of the Maine 2 footers.
Shmitty, I guess you have figured by now that this is one poll that is guaranteed not to make everyone happy!
My vote the Q
The Standard Railroad of the World…
The mighty Pennsylvania!!! Glad to see you listed it, though why it would appear after the CB&Q and the WP, I couldn’t guess…[;)]
Illinois Central followed by the Illinois Traction System
- CN
- VIA Rail Canada
- CSX
- CP Rail
I could go on, but it wouldn’t really be a favourites list anymore.
Maryland Midland, Western Maryland, Chessie, CSX and oddly enough (considering my east coast roots) the CB&Q.
Belfast & Moosehead Lake Railroad, Belfast, Maine.
Lol mitch QRNational isn’t bad, but US i’d have to say,
BN,ATSF,BNSF,UP
James.
[#ditto]
I voted for SP, also like the good old GM&O.
