Ok, I was thinking we could rucn this one each weekend just to show our modeling projects. It would be a little different from “photo fun” although it’s related to the hobby, It would be a place to show our Modelling projects.
Today I started on a Rio Grande GP 40, Started with a snow plow and then moved on to that uncoupler bar thing?(hand made and painted ) for the front. I’ll be moving to the back as well after the MU hoses are installed. I plan to finish number boards and hand rails by the end of the weekend. Whats your project?? Will post some pics tomorrow
Still under construction I’ll do some weathering …anything to tone down that D&rgw yellow.
I planted Winter Wheat in the field next to VanNa’s woods. Amazingly it is almost ready to harvest! [:D]
I painted my Rivarossi 0-6-0 to look like it originally did. Could that be considered modeling?[:)]
i’m trying to finish a scratch bashed freight house for my ho module to be used next saturday at a club show at the newburgh mall in newburgh ny
Let’s see, I ballasted some tracks and turnouts in my yard. I re-mounted a slipped headlight, and tried to add a couple of extra power wipes to an old Athearn F7. Finally, I got around to figuring out how I’m going to mount that video camera and its power supply in the subway car.
I put the end hand rails on my new Atlas Conrail GP7. Took about 1 minute. [;)]
Today, I made a 300 mile round trip to visit the in-laws for their birthday. [:O][:O]
My modeling project for today is spending a little time on this forum getting ideas for the next few days!! [:P][:P]
Filled a gap between two sections of 22" radius that appeared on one side due to my having to tweek the curvature to get a 90 deg crossing to come together. Used solder, filed it until it looked good and felt smooth to the fingers. Then, I ran the Challenger over that spot, and it didn’t miss a beat.
I’m getting better. [:D]
Ispent the day trying to put my BLI Mikado back together after a guy in my club put it on the floor. He made a mistake & it plunged to the floor & self distructed. Anybody can make a mistake we all do. This guy sticks his head around the corner & says " your engine is demolished". As I am crawling around on the floor looking for all the pieces he steps over me saying “I got to get another engine to get that train back in”. As I said anyone can make a mistake but to not even say I’m sorry or help pickup the pieces is beyond me. Rather than make a scene I left. I spoke to other guys in the club after by phone & they all feel that behavior is unexcuseable. I will be having some words with this jerk next meetting.
Tom
PS I got it back together & it runs & sounds ok
Sorry to hear that (tommyr). Ya know I’m going to my first club meeting on Tuesday and I hope we don’t have anyone like that. With all the stories I’ve heard about clubs I’m just a little worried
Wow. What an ***.
I’ve been messing around with an old BB SW1500 I have it torn down to remotor and new gear tower and DCC it and im considering getting a Cary shell for it. But I dont have the proper tools to work with metal
I went to a train show today(Indianhead Show in Eau Claire, WI). Wound up buying a P2K Milw GP9 at a really good price, and 6 Tortoise motors($13 each). I know I could get them cheaper via mail order, but they were there and I had the money. I also picked up some ‘used’ W/S rock casting molds($3 each).
I have to drive up to the cities Sunday to visit my Mother(heart surgery), so I doubt if I will get anything done on the layout. I did sweep up the construction mess this afternoon when I got back home.

Don’t let my experience with one ham handed individual put you off. The guys in my club & clubs in surrounding areas are really great. It is really nice to get together with guys that share the same interests.
Putting up the fascia around our clubs layout. I’m getting side lined with modeling a full scale bathroom on the back of our house.

Hey Tommy, Dont let one Jerk, **** in your OOOOOOO’ssss. Just hang out with your other buddies in your club.
Hey my project today was going to the Barbers and getting a haircut with my son. WE stopped at our Fav bookstore and then the Hobbyshp after. We were going to hit the local trainshow but decieded not too cause another one is coming up in 2 weeks.
Besides I had to sneek the new stuff past the wife that I got at the Hobbyshop.
Ya know how hard its to get a Walthers catolog, 2 Athearn Semi trucks, and 3 Chevy Pickups in the house!!! LOL Kevin
I’ve just spent the last 10mins shaping a roof profile on a whitemetal trolley car kit (the end sections of the roof are cast as part of the car ends while the mid section is a seperate casting). After spreading epoxy resin over the gaps last night and leaving it to set hard, I attacked it with a file this morning - looks good though I won’t know if it’s right until after a coat of paint (which will show up any rough areas).
Well I just got my new set of LL FA-1/B1 NYC both powered and a LL GP-7. My project today is to put sound in all three units. The F series is the old version apparently even though I just bought it. It takes the old larger Soundtraxx decoder which they do not make anymore. So after a little research I decided to put in an Alco DSX along with a Digitrax 163 for motor control in both units. Lots of room particularly in the B unit for a big ole 1" round speaker with soundtraxx enclosure. The A unit is a bit less roomy but I have figured out where I can put a 1" spkr w/encl as well. With both units putting out sound it should be awesome. I decided on the DSX because they have far more sounds than the “plug an play” decoder for the Alco, plus I had plenty of room in the loco’s for the larger DSX. The GP-7 is a snap as I have already done a GP-9. With a little chassis cutting I can fit a nice big 1 1/2 X 1/2 oval speaker just over the front truck. My Soundtraxx GP-9 actually sounds better than my QSI GP-9. I will try to post pics and results in a few days.

a B&M Autorack.
tommy, remember, on any branch, there is always one bad apple. Put him behind you, he was a jerk, and enjoy your time with the other club members!
The structure kits I ordered came Friday. Now I am busy trimming flash and waiting for things to dry. I need to pick up a compressor or more cans of spray paint.
