My first started last night with my new to me AC4400CW (kato) I had to remove the decoder and wire it for traditional DC.
The next later this afternoon will be weathering of of the Rio Grande GP-40 Athearn BlueBox. Some of you have seen pics of these already, I’ll get some more of my progress as the weekend goes by. So show your pics if you got em and give a little rundown on the project. Happy modeling.
im going to foam my RR benchwork even if its with a froth pack and a press form. somewhere in this rural florida armpit there is a sheet or 2 of foam hiding just dreaming of
being a RR base.
somewhere…
buy some more track!![8D] Tim
I am doing some benchwork for the expantion of the Seneca Lake, Ontario, and Western, as well as tweaking some scenery.
Weathering the darn Railbox, as usual.
I just don’t see how Aggro can produce 2 or 3 great looking cars every week.
I’am going to try and finish my coaling station and yard,a switch, ballest(UGHHH!) and maybe a couple of coal cars, got to have something under the coal tower [^][2c]

No pics, but I’m putting in a rock face for the lower Butte Tunnel at Sierra City and re-doing the cut that leads to it. So it’s Sculptamold and putty-knife time for this guy. Next project is to build and install some scenery modules for a couple of spots that are a little too isolated to work on them directly. In other words, catch up on the stuff that I was supposed to do this Summer.

I have a brand new IHC 2-8-2 that was given to me earlier this summer. It is not DCC, so it sits on an electrically isolated siding of track. Not especially well detailed, I decided it needed a turbine generator just forward of the cab. So, I took a “grease barrel” from a detailing kit and placed a curved piece of paper clip into its side to appear like the steam turbine exhaust. I painted it black with acrylic paint, and glued it to the boiler last night. Looks not half-bad.
No, it’s not a super fine job, but it is the first time I have ever altered an engine (other than weathering), so I am feeling good about it. No pix, sorry, as I do not have a digital camera.
I’m installing a camera in the front of a subway car, so I can see what’s going on down in the tunnels. First, here’s the camera and power supply right out of the box. There’s also a connector from the camera plug to the power supply board, which is not shown. The car is a Life-Like R17 subway car, unpowered.

Next, the wiring was modified by Jerry at MicroColorCam, the vendor. He offers this service for a very reasonable fee. (I can handle a soldering iron, and I’m a Scotsman, but I still let him do it!) All the plugs and jacks are now gone, and the capacitor has been moved off-board.

Here’ s the system installed in the car. The power supply circuit board is inside the gray housing in the center, and the big blue capacitor is off to the right.

Finally, a front view of the car. The camera lens can be seen through the circular porthole in the door. There are a couple of holes in the front where I’m mounting LEDs to provide lighting for the video.

Cool!! so cool, great post !! No one will ever know!!
Bump!!
Not worthy of a Picture! Seriously! I’m installing the missing ties between sections of flex track. Really sexy stuff! And more exciting than watching grass grow. But…it has to be done.
Happy Railroading,
Treovr
i shall try to get mey dad to finally cut the 4x8 table thats bin sittin in my basement for months, so the first to sections of benchwork can be completed and have foamboard put on them, the i have to build 3 more sections, YAY! maby by 2008, i can start laying track
Installing grabs in some passenger cars and building an interior for a Santa Fe 10-6 Palm sleeper. I think I might also try to get som air, signal, and steam lines in place as well. This is the kind of stuff that keeps me in the hobby. Detailing is where it’s at!
I actually made progress on my MDC RS-3 project - shee***hose Detail Associates horns are a pain to assemble. 3-chime horn, and there’s SEVEN pieces! I wasn;t about to try and make the tiny mouting bracker from 3 pies of styrene, I compromised and made a small solid bracket. Mounted it to the cab front, and mounted the completed horn assembly. Doesn’t look too bad, even unpainted. Next step is washing all the palstic parts and primer, but it’s too cold to paint today (I paint outside in the garage - and it’s too cold for the paint to flow and dry properly).

Just assembling autoracks. Autoracks that who knows will ever run on my layout
me too!!
Does getting over a bad cold count? I feel and look like cr*p… [xx(] I don’t want to give it to my train crews.
