Well, I got a nearly new to me GP-35 Athearn BB last week so I’ve been working on it some. Had to instal hand rails, New Nathan 3 chimes, Strobe light, EMD style Bell, Mu hoses and mount Kadees. Hope I can get the Number boards too. I have several clean-up projects I need to do and get some of them out of the way.
The cotton Belt conversion for this U-28 has come along quite well. There are still more things to do. Maybe I can get it done this week too.
So, everyone what do ya think?I still need to add a shot of Dulcoat to clean up around the Decals.
Well, mine is figuring out what box car to use for Rich Divizio’s competiton/project on his weathering forum. Also, I am finishing up a couple of weathering projects that I’ve been in the middle of forever.
And, you can’t forget the biggest project of the day(Besides raking and mowing up the leaves): College football.[:D]
Also, I’m planning a trip to my LHS(For reason numero uno stated above. Isn’t my Spanish great?[;)])
In the process of installing the Champion Mine in the diggings at South Yuba Canyon. I found that the Walther’s coal mine will work okay for a combination mine/smelter system, so I’m using that kit as a basis. Installing N-scale track for the mine track (I’m in HO), already installed the tailing track and most of the mine track. I’ll be using Grandt Line kits for the office and a subsidiary shaft–the main shaft will come into the mine at a high level from a cliff across the Rio Grande mainline tracks. Should be fun. Here’s some of the work so far:
Basic mine setup.
Tailing track leading to ore dump. Rio Grande mainline in background.

The pink is inadvertant, LOL! It’s actually the foam base for the layout, which is made by Corning, and doesn’t seem to be available in California, anymore. Something about it being dangerous to Spotted Owls or Snail Darters or something like that. Luckily I stocked up before the stores stopped carring it.

Tom, that track looks so bad(good)…Is it even servicable?? hehe

Joey–no, it’s just there for show. All the mining railroad equipment is going to be stationary. If there were still any HOn2-1/2 equipment still around, I might be tempted to have an operating mining RR, but all I can find is stationary Durango Press and Grandt Line cars. Oh, well–

I have a pair of Kato SD40-2s in UP, and on Friday night I painted the grey plastic grabs yellow on both of them, then last night I did a full Mu cable set up and a correct plow on one one of them, and will do the same to the other tonite. Then later comes WEATHERING!!!1
