what is your most used loco on the layout

what is the make and model of the loco that sees the most use on your layout. ( manufacturer and engine type). mine is two athearn sd70’s running under the conrail flag.[8D]

Atlas GP7 #1706 CN Green/Yellow Livery and Atlas RS3 #3011 CN Green/Yellow Livery.

They just run so much better than the rest of my roster (P2K SW9/1200, Athearn GP38 & GP40, Walthers Trainline GP9M, Bachmann 4-6-2 Pacific, and IHC 4-6-0). All of these with the exception of the P2K are must less expensive loco’s. It seems to me that when it comes to Model Railroading…you get what you pay for, on so many levels.

Either my Alco S1 or my Baldwin VO-660 swithcer. However, with the advent and purchase of my BLI 2-8-2 Mike, it’s been getting more track time lately than the switchers…

Tom

My ge 44 tonner , does most of my switching around the industires. Bachmann (new drive )

I also have my Athearn Genesis SD70Ms running most of the time. I really love the Genesis units and have about 12 SD70Ms UP and SP

gee this is a tough question because I use so many…i have three different consists of road locos…2 RTR sd50’s, 2 ac 4400’s , 1 mac 70 and a u33 c- all athearn locos,…I also use a proto alco rs -11 and an athearn gp-9 and 2 atlas mp15dc’s (my newest locos) for yard work, i also use 2 gp-35’s and 2 38-2,s all athearn also…chuck

BLI K-4.

I have several, but with my focus on Pennsy passenger ops any one of them would probably qualify on its own. As a group, they’re probably 66% of my loco-run-time.

I’ve got 3 Proto 2000 GP9’s that get the bulk of the work on my layout.

The most used locomotive I have my my Athearn CP Rail SD40-2 #5415.

This is the oldest locomotive in my fleet I bought new & has since seen the most use.

I try to mix my fleet up so I don’t get bored with any one locomotive.

Athearn GP-9 (actually a GP-7) Painted and letterd for Guilford Rail Systems wearing MEC 47 road No. Smoothest running Athearn unit I own and it has the old METAL flywheels. Go figure!

mines csx gp40-2

I’d have to say either my Athearn GP7 (painted black, but no PC worms yet), the P2K GP7 (full NYC dress), or my still-unpainted Athearn F7. These are the real workhorses of my fleet.

I have had a roster of locos that I wanted to get from the outset, but I promised my wife and myself that I would never get to the point where I am leaving locos in drawers because I either have no room for them, or I simply have so many locos that most of them never see daylight. I am shortly to complete my roster, and buying stops. My intention has been, and I give myself credit for success so far, to run every loco a couple of times a week. Every one gets used, but you would expect the oldest to get less than the newest.

To answer honestly, I use the K4s, the Niagara, the Tsunami’d IHC Mike, and my Hudson the most. For variety and to keep my era realistically represented, I run a FA2/FB2 set pulling passenger cars when either of the Pacific, Hudson, or Niagara is serviced. Alas, my beautiful Heritage 0-6-0 gets little use due to its low pulling capacity. When I revamp my layout over the next 6-8 months, it will be placed in a newly added yard.

I use my American Models GG1 the most - PRR green with five pin stripes.

I run them all about the same amount of time. My old b-b GP35 has the most OVERALL hours, but i guess my Atlas U33C is the primary because it’s my only 6-axle (the AC4400 doesn’t run right now). My trains are getting long enough that 1 Geep can’t handle some of the local freights.

Easy one - My new BLI NYC SW-7 w/sound. I have done a butt load of switching lately. All the main line Loco’s are collecting dust. I do turn on the sound of the other loco’s just to add some ambiance. 2nd fav is my NYC F1/2 ABBA consist w/sound.

Right now it’s my Kato Western Pacific 2-8-2 heavy Mikado.

It’s either my Atlas GP38s or my Atlas GP7 or maybe my P2K GP60.
