What is the “Art Train”?
Basically, it is an art museum on rails. It was here a few years ago, but I missed it.
For me, personally, it’s just another “unusual” train…this time filled with junk that some people call art and get way, way too much money for. NOTE: That is my personal opinion, not to be forced on anybody else in any way.
So it just travels the country from town to town?
I believe it got its start in Michigan (possibly during the early 1970s or late 60s), and later became a nationally-funded thing (possibly when Michigan couldn’t afford it).
“Artrain USA is America’s Hometown Art Museum. A nonprofit organization, its mission is to enrich lives and build communities through the arts. As an art museum housed in vintage rail cars and traveling via the nation’s railways, Artrain USA brings world class art exhibitions and art education programs to communities and their residents. Artrain USA delivers exceptional opportunities for learning, growth and art appreciation while encouraging the development of local cultural programs and organizations.”
