What some folks don’t get is that it’s their forum to censor. And trying not to sound
rude… if you don’t like the way Bergie runs this forum, start your own and run it the way
you see fit. You got to understand this supposed to be a family oriented forum
ran by a family oriented company… If I want to see dead dudes, I can go to Rotten.com.

Self-censorship is the best form of censorship. When forum users fail to act responsibly, than someone else must step in. Freedom and responsibility go hand in hand. This forum is G-rated. It doesn’t mean that it has to be full of Disney puppies and oceans where even the sharks are loveable, but we don’t need shocking photos or Howard Stern language here. There is a place for those things, and I’m glad there is enough bandwidth for all of us. Let’s just not mix them up, OK?

I come here to talk model trains. Not politics, religion, race or to look at pictures of dead dudes with their faces ripped off. I don’t want to know about bad things that happen in other peoples lives, it doesn’t concern me. I don’t want to read simpathy posts, or looking for prayers for a sick family member posts. I come here to escape reality for 20 or 30 minutes a day. If I wanted to read that other crap then I could just go buy a newspaper or watch the news. This site has really been going down hill lately because of people that have been posting stupid stuff that has no connection to model trains. Tracklayer, until people change that attitude that you clearly have then its not going to change. Posts are censored, removed, whatever for one reason. THEY HAD NO MODEL TRAIN CONTENT. There are a number of members of this forum that really need to be sat down and spoken to about their rediculous and useless posts that have no MODEL TRAIN content. Its sad when you have to go back 6 pages to find a post about something because people start dumb posts like whats you favorite colour, ice cream, potato chips, etc. A little extreme but you get the point, I don’t want to center anybody out by posting their posts. When I first joined this forum I thought it was great and very informative. Now its turned into a public school cafeteria with no control. Maybe its time to go hang out in the Atlas forum for awhile.
i have no problem with bergie removing pics of dead people , and any other tra***hat has been posted lately , but isn’t it possible to just delete that one message rather than the whole thread ?
not that i have any interest in train accident threads , i exercised my own version of censorship and never even read that one

Moral police? Good goobly…I think that most of us here want to talk about trains! Even at my age and as long time modeler I always have questions. When I can, I want to answer questions as well, especially for newbies.
So this is not about agreeing with everyone here. I’ve had disagreements with Paul3, Budliner, and Dgoodlander, yet they were train related and in the end we still help and respect each other on this forum. That’s quality!
Off Topic threads that are within guidelines can be fun. But I have to agree with Dave above. Photos of dead bodies, a drawing depicting ***, couples—straight or gay------stinking drunk at a bar, or people that look like they’re on crack contribute absolutely nothing to the forum. It’s like setting serving a nice dinner and then putting a glass pitcher full of sewage water for the family to drink. [xx(][V]
IMHO, it’s sad that these intelligent trolls…I’m assuming fellow American citizens… don’t care that all they’re doing is showing us how small minded and unproductive they can be. Yet, I often see people from other countries using their energies to improve themselves or help others on the web.
I’m not picking on you Tracklayer. You’ve had some great posts. Just makes me wonder why people cry “moral police” and “censorship” whenever something like this occurs. Don’t worry about moral police…the moral values that helped build this country are deteriorating continually. Plenty of porn, blood and guts, and sadistic / masochistic photos available via the internet. Censorship? That word has become a joke!
