–the fun is completing any one of the projects, running the trains, and sharing with other interested folks - especially those who may become hobbiests
You did not list as a choice , But I like to create scenery, and all its aspects of geology ( rocks , hills, rivers, ponds),and foliage to bring it alive.
The choices you offered were too finely drawn.
as many i like all aspects of model railroading however i realy like the fact that what ever you build or create on your railroad it is yours and it cant be wrong because it is your railroad and as long as you are happy thats what counts HAVE FUN!!!
Just the pleasure of donig something I really enjoy and to get away from all the pressures of
the outside world.
TO JUST GET AWAY INTO MY OWN WORLD.
To bad I could only vote for one. All aspects of the hobby are fun or at least interesting and challenging. Thats why I’m into it.
The looks on the faces of people who see it, esp. children.
I really enjoy the fellowship with other modelers. That gives me the opportunity to learn more, and share what I know.
Too bad there wasn’t an option for collecting old trains. I get great enjoyment finding old American Flyer (S gauge) made in the late forties and fifties (some 50 years old) which still run!
Having fun building and operating. Talking with other model RR’s, and exchanging layout ideas.
I also like to do that to Trainnut 484[8D]
Another fun part comes from being able to re-create part of the real world in the model. The point of all the research is to find one new little piece of the puzzle. Then that paint scheme can be recreated in the model. You get to hold history in your hand. And when visitors stop by, you can say I did that. Sometimes we do get lucky and have ole pacific GTW 4962 by Atlas on saleat the LHS just like the one in the video or if we were lucky enough to see it trackside. On our layout, it can pull Number 22 any night of the week!
Have fun Model Railroading!
in my younger days of modeling i never got past the track laying part cuz i always thought of something new to do with the track plan…or lack of a plan…now im older and now have the urge to complete a layout ive never done much except lay track and use R-T-R equipment
You didn’t have a choice on there for me. I really enjoy doing the scenery, which could include building kits. Kits are fine, but really get into trees and landscaping.

What is there left to say?
Everyone else has said everything!
The Grandchildren’s faces,
The fellowship at meets and at the hobby shop,’
Yet again another attempt at scenery that does not look like a FEMA reconstruction of some calamity.
Getting my fix of railroad magazines each month,
Running in my latest find from Mostly Trains on the oval run in track til it smoothes out and purrs, around and around hypnotically.
But most of all lately, logging on here and mingling with friends from all over the planet and living the hobby with them. Work and family problems are forgotten for a little and I am in MY world.
Thanks!

-enjoying the signalling challege, along with the fun of using N guage
Creating scenery, then enjoying watching the trains roll through the scenicked areas. Also switching operations in a yard where the track is painted, ballasted and weathered to give it that well used and dirt covered look.

I’m currently in the process of wiring the tracks and building a mountain for the layout of my youngest son but I switch between many projects depending upon available time and humor of the day ! I am weathering and superdetailing eight locos, tuning a couple more, kitbashing a trio of enclosed auto carriers, weathering a lot of containers and detailing a fleet of trucks to haul them to and from an intermodel yard. Everything is fun in this hobby apart from the rising prices and the increasing number of interesting items non available as kits.

My top priority is sharing my enjoyment with my son. Operation is second and planning and seeing my plan take shape is a close third. - Ed
Going to the Train Ladys Store In Odessa. Its one of my favorite pasttimes. Kinda like Christmas and a kid in a candy candy store all rolled up in one. Building and operating rate up there , too.
