While in the process of beginning the urban section of my N scale layout, I have to ask the question: Who is closer to true scale when it comes to N gauge?
While looking the large amount figures and automobiles that I have from Kato, Preiser, Model Power and the like, there seems to be quite a difference in scale. It seems that even within the same manufacturer the size of the people are not proportionate to either engines or automobiles for the scale, in some cases, for their own vehicles!
So what are your thoughts on this topic?

I would go with Preiser figures and compare any others I considered buying to them. The Kato figures I’ve seen are made by Preiser.
I haven’t looked closley at the Woodland Scenics N scale figures yet. They appear to be very nice.
There is a great variation in size of proptotype vehicles The Japanese companies usually model Japanese prototypes which tend to be smaller than American. They are appropriate for modern US layouts. Their trucks ans buses are usually a little small for the US.
Wriking has some nice cars . Their trucks are European but some could be modified.
For older vehicles look at Classic Metal Works…
GHQ makes accurate beautiful kits but due to their fine detail parts can be difficult,
Athearn is off to a good start with their Ford trucks.
