I was wondering what modern day loco you would want to see Southern’s tuxedo on? I’m going to be painting another one soon and am taking suggestions. I would preferably want one that is plastic but I might consider a Tower 55(part brass, part plastic).
I’m with you on the Tower 55 idea. I think an Evolution series would look great in a tux! Then again, an SD70ACe would look good too… It’s all up to you.
You should take any modern day loco, repaint it into Southern Tux, but convert it into a long hood forward unit! Imagine a SD70ACe long hood forward with a modified high hood cab!!!
Funny you should mention Green Goats. I saw three brand new units in tow, the other night, on a CP train exiting the Detroit River tunnel from Windsor Ontario, and heading west. I believe they are made in London Ontario, and were on their way to the UP. Left my camera home. I hate when that happens.
I’ve thought of doing just that for laughs at our club, like a SD70M, but I would want it to be able to run and have plenty of detail, but I’m not willing to fork over that much right now when I could buy some more ‘real’ Southern units. I have 2 Athearn SD40-2s on order, one BLI 40-2, and have a RS11 in the mail now- plenty for the wallet.
Just thouht I’d try one a bit different. A pair of those would like great.
I love the NYC engines… those are cool. Dont know what you are up with your layout, but I think I am in love. For some odd reason, I really love the Fallen Flags schemes on modern day power. Just too cool.
I would love to see a SD60M 2 or 3 window. Maybe do some bashing to some F-units and make them look like NS’s F-units with the ditch lights and everything.
